Pennies are a shame to have as part of our currency, for their weight they are worthless, and they'd have to be infinitesimally light to be worth their weight. That's not the only problem either, the time it takes to count them, find them, even if it takes just ten seconds. At minimum wage you just cost yourself over two cents to get out the pennies, then you cost the cashier another two cents of their time just to count them. At that point you would have been better off just using a nickel instead of trying to find the exact number of pennies.
Everyone knows that one hundred pennies are only worth a dollar. To pay for just about anything in a store with pennies, you would need to take at least a thousand of them with you, roughly six pounds, which would be pointless since there are dollar bills available to us which are much easier (and lighter) to carry around than a bunch of pennies. Which each worth only one cent (well, technically worth even less than that since it costs our government more than one cent to make each penny). So, does it really make sense to have pennies? There is hardly anything you can buy with just a penny alone, and since we are in possession of larger coins and bills, why do we need the penny? We do not, as believes 60% of America (CNN 1)!
Who wants to lug them around? Imagine seeing someone at your gas station holding a bag filled with a thousand pennies just so that they can buy ten dollars worth of snacks, candy bars, and energy drinks. Can you imagine how long it would take for the cashier to count all those pennies when it would be so much simpler if the customer had just paid with a ten dollar bill? Or two five dollar bills? Or even ten one dollar bills? Why do we bother with such a useless and worthless coin that we don’t need? We waste too much time fiddling around with our pennies.

We need to let the penny die, and we need to let it die now. Why should we wait? Aren’t we all tired of wasting valuable time on these worthless things? Don’t we want the government to stop wasting money making them? Please do your part in ridding our country of this nonsense. The penny must go!
